World Refugee Day 2025

The Kite-Runner Team and its Friends Call for Visibility, Shelter, and Systemic Reform

Together with the WHO we call for urgent action to strengthen inclusive, resilient health systems that leave no one behind. As protracted displacement rises, many fleeing conflict and disasters are spending over a decade awaiting legal recognition.

On the brink of a terrible new war in the Middle East, Mozhda Ahmadi, Fariba Aram, Thomas Büsch, Shahzad Mudasir, Jafar Niazi and Wahaida Samadi express the need to have World Refugee Day for Peace to Come and rethink the World Order and National Borders.

World Refugee Day is an international day organised every year on 20 June by the United Nations. It is designed to celebrate and honour refugees from around the world. The day was first established on 20 June 2001, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.
