Call for submission of short films, festival CLAC 2026

As part of the short film festival CLAC (Certains L’Aiment Court), which will take place on the 6th and 7th of May 2026 in Lyon, the festival is pleased to announce a call for submissions for short films on the theme “Origines“. The selected short films will be screened in front of several hundreds of persons and a jury who will soon be revealed. The evening will conclude with an award ceremony.

About the theme :

Origins, at first glance, represent the initial moment of something’s appearance — a starting point, a beginning. Synonymous with a debut, it opens up an infinity of possibilities, a new world full of hope to be discovered. Here, origins are what set things in motion.

However, origin is also used to speak of the past, of ancestry. Our origins are what came before us — what shapes our DNA while remaining beyond our control. While some seek to understand their origins, others try to escape a past that doesn’t always suit them, yet one they can never truly free themselves from. Origins can therefore be both liberating and confining.
Finally, it is interesting to note the plural form, origins. Origins are numerous, multifaceted — an endless collection of all that has defined us: our country, our family, our encounters, our traumas… A constellation of elements that shape who we are today — a past that forever leaves its mark on our future.
