Kite Runner

The establishment of a media hub serves to network and acquire participants and pave the way for professionalizing media skills.

Questions about conflict situations, gender equality, and local communities will be addressed and will sensitize participants and the public online.

These activities are organized by the Istanbul-based association Diyalog.

Exiled Media Workers

Exiled media workers from Afghanistan are offering their professional experiences and are open for any kind of global assignments. Please feel free to contact them directly or via info@diyalog-der.eu.

Online Female Working Group

The Online Female Working Group will help female media activists to articulate and define their individual and professional needs as independent journalists and open a platform for them to publish their work freely.

Cross Media Lab

Within this lab we will discuss short movie creation, animated movies, graphic novels, and text publishing online as new forms of digital storytelling.

The modules are designed to enable the participants to start with simple storytelling and gradually acquire skills. In parallel, the aspiring citizen journalists will practice digital techniques on topics discovering cultural diversity in communities.

Monthly Public Screenings with Discussion

A selection of documentaries will be screened in cooperation with IMS once a month at Postane in Istanbul with discussion afterwards. The monthly public screening will be open not only to media people from Afghanistan in Turkey but also to the public in Istanbul.

Activities 2023

One main focus of the activities in 2024 is to upgrade all kinds of skills of media people from Afghanistan (e.g., language skills, writing skills, editing skills and so on) so that they will become better qualified to work as freelancers for international media outlets in a global comparison.

All events of Kite Runner are Free of Charge.

Emergency Fund

The funds provide journalists and media workers from Afghanistan in urgent need with emergency cash assistance or with contribution to medical or legal costs.
