Workshop on the Safety of Journalists
Afghanistan has become one of the most dangerous places for journalists. But also in places like Turkey and in European countries like Germany, they face hatred and violence: Journalists get arrested, beaten, fired, harassed, insulted, persecuted, shit-stormed and sued. This workshop teaches how to prevent assaults, but also how to deal with them in the aftermath. It will provide participants with strategies and technological tools for protection, online and offline. This includes the safety of the journalists themselves, but also of their sources, collaborators, and private contacts such as family. There will be room to discuss individual cases, analyze threats and develop safety concepts.
